Location
This traditional secluded Cypriot village stone house is conveniently situated in the delightful totally unspoilt, rural village of Lania, now established as the " Artist's Village " with a number of galleries to visit. The location gives easy access down to Limassol's buzz ling atmosphere, only 20 minutes or up to higher mountain villages such as Platres or Troodos with wide ranging enjoyable mountain trails. For those wishing to experience the delights of living in a Cypriot village with wonderful friendly caring people this would be an ideal retreat.

Although the house is situated in the centre of the village it benefits from total privacy  once inside the garden gate with pomegranate , fig tree and colourful geraniums greeting you as you approach  the door.……………….. once described as like a “ Secret Garden “courtyard.JPG (96828 bytes)

The view from the roof terrace is over the surrounding village, little white houses with brick tiled roofs set on a back drop of mountains covered in vines. Being a traditional village where the means of transport before the motor car was donkey and cart the streets are narrow and some are cobbled. Car hire is essential and we advise a small to medium car as it is easier for access the narrow lanes in the villages  and for parking. There are many car hire companies to select from on the web. We often used one of the many local car hire companies when visiting Cyprus before  we lived here, which we found totally reliable.

Lounge 2 Lania.jpg (51618 bytes) Accommodation is on two floors and has recently been upgraded ensuring that the traditional features have all been retained. On entering the property there is a lovely stone court yard leading to the main and kitchen doors. Steps from the yard access the veranda and roof terrace.

This house is suitable for able-bodied people (spiral staircase to bedroom). There is a small covered alfresco preparation, cooking and eating area with easy access to the main kitchen which is exceptionally well equipped, plentiful cupboard space, gas cooker, washing machine, microwave, abundant cutlery, dishes, bowls etc etc. with essentials like cafetiere, and a cork screw. We also provide a cool box with melamine plates for picnics and trips.

There is a large airy lounge opening onto the courtyard with many traditional features such as flagstone floor, high cane lined ceiling with enormous wooden beams and a corner wood burninggate.jpg (103992 bytes) stove provided for those who wish to stay in the cooler winter months but enjoy the benefits of gorgeous temperatures during the day. Media facilities include television, CD radio and DVD with a small selection of DVD's all provided. A big comfortable settee to sink into while absorbing a good book makes this ambient room a delight to relax in. The corner settee can also be used as 2 additional single beds.
The bedroom with ensuite wc and basin is accessed from either the kitchen via spiral staircase or from the court yard via a stone staircase, boasts a king-size and single bed should the facilities of twin beds be required. 28.jpg (78362 bytes)There is a beautiful wardrobe………. traditionally gifted by father to daughter on the occasion of her marriage giving ample hanging space and a large chest of drawers. The double doors in this room open on to a covered veranda which in turn leads to the walled roof terrace with shaded spot for optional dinning area.
This is where you can relax on the loungers surrounded by pots brimming with colour and sunbathe in complete privacy. An outside shower provides an area to cool off. The main newly refurbished large shower room and toilet is on the ground floor.

Through out the year the flora and fauna all change with the season's. In Spring the blossom and wild flowers are breathtaking and the Autumn colours are divine Through out the year the flora and fauna all change with the season's. The village is near the ancient wine region where one can enjoy free tasting and then purchase your favourite from the many micro wineries developed in the past few years Lania shares the beautiful climate enjoyed by 1000's of visitors every year and because it is at a slightly higher altitude there are mountains breezes to relieve the heat of the summer. The temperature in Platres is usually about 10 degrees below Limassol. The reason so many locals visit the mountain villages in the summer.
