| ANNEX A TO FLYING ORDER BOOK AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT 1 Barographs Barographs are to be carried on all flights in soaring aircraft. The barographs should be sealed by an official observer and similarly opened at the conclusion of any certificate flight. The barograph is not to be tampered with or claims may be invalidated. They are to be fitted during every daily inspection prior to flying. 2 Oxygen Pilots contemplating height climbs are to carry a serviceable oxygen system if flight over 12,000 ft is contemplated. If an oxygen system is fitted then oxygen should be used above 10,000 ft . 3 Radio Pilots using radio must use it sparingly and obey accepted radio procedures. Radios should be left on throughout the flight and selected to the appropriate frequency as required;. 4 Safety Harness he seat harnesses provided for each occupant of a glider is to be worn and kept fastened for the duration of the flight. When 2 seat gliders are flown solo the unused harness is to be fastened and tightened down before flight, so that it cannot foul any controls before flight. 5 Parachutes Normally parachutes must be worn by each occupant of a glider. In any event they must be worn for aero towing. The duty instructor is responsible for ensuring that personnel wearing parachutes have been instructed in their use and on abandonment drill. Personnel wearing parachutes must wear at least a shirt to reduce the amount of perspiration absorbed by the parachute. Parachutes which are not in use should have their harness clipped together and be stowed away from moisture and strong sunlight. Do not put parachutes on damp ground. 6 Soaring Instruments Pilots flying aircraft fitted with electrical instruments are to ensure that they are switched off after every flight. During flight they should be used sparingly to conserve battery life. 7 Parachutes, batteries and barographs are to be removed from the gliders at cease flying and placed in their appropriate storage places. |
